DEBATE 08

WELL, Debate 08 is finally on ! McSame realized he can multi-task after all!

Oxford Mississippi, what a great choice. It brings to mind James Meredith and what he had to go thru. It truly will be quite historic, hosting the event on that campus. "Ole Miss" was the last major Southern white state university to integrate. It's integration process, however came with death and violence.

James Meredith became the first African American student admitted there, and he is a very courageous figure in the history of American democracy.

WELL, Obama is know for his eloquence in public speaking, while McSame often struggles when given a decent script to READ (smile)

McSame has developed a knack for answering questions with flat, simple sentences, although conveying a sense of candor, but verbally, he's not even in the same league with Obama.

Obama on the other hand, often starts slowly as if thinking things out, which is good thing, but finishes with more sophisticated answers.

Neither candidate has a easy task ahead of them, especially in the light of all that is going on with the bail-out mess.

THAT, is what will make this and future debates SO intriguing!!!

Experience is Overrated!!!

The external debate about a presidential candidate's experience or lack of it is greatly overblown.

Presidents "do not" make decisions in a vacuum.

They have Cabinets, advisors, legal counselors, and staffers, with whom to consult.

In fact the quality of the people advising the president is probably more important than the president, when it comes to decision-making.

Voters should consider what Obama has done in the past and what he intends to bring to the table.

A person can have a lot of experience at doing the wrong things.

The last 8 years showed that!!!!!

John McCain and Some Woman? My Sentiments Exactly!!

Something I rarely do is listen to what a "they" have to say, but because she is making history also, I just wanted to hear what she had to say.

For the most part, not a whole hell'va lot. She introduced her family , and well here some excepts...

"Some of life's greatest opportunities come unexpectedly, and this is certainly the case today. I never really set out to be involved in public affairs, much less to run for this office.

I've stood up to the old politics as usual, to the special interests, to the lobbyist, the Big Oil companies and the 'good old boy' network. (We'll see how this plays out!)

Politics isn't just a game of competing interests and clashing parties. The people of America expect us to seek public office and to serve for the right reasons. And the right reason is to challenge the status quo and to serve the common good.(Yeah, right!)

"To serve as vice president beside such a man would be the privilege of a lifetime, and it's fitting that this trust has been given to me 88 years almost to the day after the women of America first gained the right to vote." (Well, at least she got that right!)

Like I said, who is this woman and what has she done? If something were to happen to this "Old Man", God help us!!

Fewer People of Color at the Republican National Convention...I Wonder Why!!!

This year fewer people of color are participating in the RNC than ever before----In part because of Democrat Barack Obama---the first African American Presidential Nominee,To Ever Make It This Far, and he is attracting their support. One thing that cannot be manipulated or staged is the delegates. As I watched parts of the RNC, mostly to see what "ole girl" had to say, I was struck by the sea of older white faces" in the crowd in contrast to the Democratic National Convention. The DNC looked more youthful; faces of every hue and color. If we want a leadership that represents our interest and concerns as Americans, we need to have a leadership that "looks" more American.

Now, let us not forget the blacks that went before Obama:

Shirley Chisholm. A New York teacher elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, Chisholm unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1972. She did get the most convention votes for a female candidate in U.S. history.

Jesse Jackson. Jackson campaigned for the Democratic nomination twice, in 1984 and 1988. These runs secured his place as the pre-eminent black American leader of the era.

Lenora Fulani. In 1988, Fulani—a psychologist—ran as an independent and was the first black woman to appear on presidential ballots in all 50 states. She also ran in 1992.

Alan Keyes. Having served in the Reagan administration, Keyes campaigned for the Republican nomination in 1996 and 2000 (and also lost to Barack Obama in their race for a Senate seat in 2004).

Carol Moseley Braun. A U.S. senator, Moseley Braun briefly sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004.

Al Sharpton. In 2004, this New York-based activist campaigned for the Democratic presidential nomination.

WE THE PEOPLE HAVE GOTTA PULL TOGETHER AND GET THE VOTE OUT; SUPPORT THIS BROTHA !

Like the song Sam Cooke sings, A Change Gonna Come..

$7500.00 First Time Home Buyer Credit..It's All Good BUT..Not When You Have To Repay The SumBich!

Bush and the other government cronies thought they were doing something in regard to the $7500.00 tax credit for first time home buyers. It's all good, and I'm sure it will be used and appreciated by many, but my biggest gripe is that the tax "credit" must be repaid to the Government...albeit..interest free over 15 years... or when the house is sold IF there is a capital gain??

What's the use of the $7500.00 first time home buyer credit that has to be repaid?

For example the $7500.00 "credit" has to be repaid in $500.00 increments over 15 years after the "credit" is claimed. If the house is sold, and there isn't sufficient profit to cover the "credit", then pay-back is forgiven!

The National Association of Home-builders say, "Congress intended this to be a "boost."

The credit is more like a "no interest loan", thus it hurts the the "federal deficit less" than an outright grant would.

Give me a f**king break!!!!

In all do respect, that is a good thing for the first time home buyers, and it will help I'm sure, but DAM...UM, why repay it. This should be a "gift" to the people in the face of the recent foreclosure proceedings and our struggling economy! Now the Government have taken over Freddie and Ginnie Mae...what's going to happen next?

GIT ER DUN!!

The same folks that voted for "W", because he was someone that they would love to have a beer with, are the now wanting to vote for the equally unqualified Palin, because "she's a hockey Mom" , and they can relate. DAM....UM...., I hope Larry The Cable Guy never runs for President!!!

LET'S KEEP IT REAL......

LET'S KEEP IT REAL...
Can a candidate who has "no" money worries, sympathize with us common folk?

Whoever occupies the white house should set the tax, and other domestic policies that will lift us out of our economic funk. I'm really getting tired of this debate about "elitism".

Both candidates by virtue of the position they hold are automatically elevated to a higher status anyway, but Barack was a street kid in Indonesia. Survived on food stamps in his youth. Never had the luxury of choosing between 7 or 9 houses. He's been there, done that, and is keeping it real. And they call him an elitist!!

LET'S SEE IF I CAN GET THIS STRAIGHT....

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I can get this straight...
If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're
"exotic, different."
Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American
story.

If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well
grounded.

If you spend 3 years as a community organizer, become the
first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter
registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a
Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing
a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's
Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States
Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills
and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and
Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience
If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city
council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with fewer than 7,000 people, 20
months as the governor of a state with 650,000 people, then you're
qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while
raising 2 daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a
real Christian.
If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your
wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a good Christian…

If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including
the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no
other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed
teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible...Never mind
that you & First Dude eloped because of your own out-of-wedlock pregnancy...

If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in
a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city
community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't
represent America's.
If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude," with at least one DWI
conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age
25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska
from the USA, your family is extremely admirable

SAY WHAT????

Doonesbury cartoon this past Sunday in our local paper, was doing a feature regarding the GOPAC memo. I was a little confused and of course, I had to look it up. What I learned is this is a for "real memo" that Newt Gingrich, a Republican former Speaker of the House was so passionate about, that

he actually put pen to paper and memorialized his thoughts. He wanted all Republicans to use a list of harsh rhetoric against their Democratic opponents as a premier training tactic. This is some of it!!

We believe that you could have a significant impact on your campaign and the way you communicate if we help a little. That is why we have created this list of words and phrases.

This list is prepared so that you might have a directory of words to use in writing literature and mail, in preparing speeches, and in producing electronic media. The words and phrases are powerful. Read them. Memorize as many as possible. And remember that like any tool, these words will not help if they are not used.

While the list could be the size of the latest "College Edition" dictionary, we have attempted to keep it small enough to be readily useful yet large enough to be broadly functional. The list of contrasting words to help you clearly define the policies and record of your opponent and the Democratic party.

Please let us know if you have any other suggestions or additions. We would also like to know how you use the list. Call us at GOPAC or write with your suggestions and comments. We may include them in the next tape mailing so that others can benefit from your knowledge and experience.

Often we search hard for words to define our opponents. Sometimes we are hesitant to use contrast. Remember that creating a difference helps you. These are powerful words that can create a clear and easily understood contrast. Apply these to the opponent, their record, proposals and their party.
